Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme
1971 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme. Rocket 350 engine. Turbo 350 transmission. Factory options include disc brakes, bucket seats, air conditioning, tilt steering, hood lock, power trunk release, convenience lighting group, and bumper guards. Original AM radio is still in the dash and works! Dash pad is in excellent condition. Seat bottoms are ripped. The carpet is nice. The headliner is beginning to sag.
The olds was repainted by the previous owner. It is very close to the original color ("bittersweet Iridescent poly" which is a metallic copper color). The paint is fair, but not the best. The original black vinyl top was removed. The paint looks better in the pictures than in person. The car has almost zero rust. There is a tiny bit in the rear wheel openings, but is very minor especially for the age of the car. The trunk floor has only surface rust. The trunk floor is very solid. The floor pans, rocker panels, and frame are all super solid without rust issues.
The Cutlass was sold new in San Diego. The owner moved near Seattle in about 1980. It has been in the Seattle area ever since. Overall the car is very solid especially given the fact that is is unrestored.
The olds starts right up first turn of the key. The engine is topped with a nice running Edelbrock model 1406 4 barrel carburetor. The engine runs well. The Cutlass drives down the road nice especially for an unrestored 49 year old car. Transmission was rebuilt in 1994. Brakes work as expected. It has an updated aluminum radiator.
All of the exterior lights work including turn signals, brake lights, side marker lights, and even the license plate light. The heater works, but the AC was disconnected long ago. The horn works. The olds is wearing 17 inch American Racing wheels with Pirelli Pzero P235 55 ZR 17 tires. The wheels are in excellent condition and the tires have almost 100% tread.
The car is far from perfect and has lots of old-car quirks, but it is a turn key classic ready for summer cruising! The Olds comes with the original owner's manuals and many years worth of registrations showing its history. The olds has a clear Washington State title. It came from an estate.
