Ad Description
1970 Oldsmobile 442 project car in need of paint and upholstery. This numbers matching classic car came to us from Colorado in need of a whole lot more. It had a rusted rear window lower frame and seat buttress/parcel shelf which was cut out, replaced and painted. The windshield lower corners were in similar shape, cut out and repaired with new materials, new windshield and painted. The frame was also found to be out of square due to an accident on the right front. The old hood and right fender repaint gave it away. My frame man was able to complete a first class repair and straighten. He was also able to straighten the sympathetic damage to the fender and radiator core supports as well as the normal rust areas in the original fenders cut out and new patches welded in. These would be classified, RESTORED. The original bumpers have been rechromed. The body was separated from the frame for body mounts leveling and bottom side floor pan cleaning and refinishing due to potential rust problems which, surprisingly, weren’t found. The bottom side floor pan was painted after cleaning. All front and rear suspension bushings and ball joints have been renewed as well as the centre link, idler arm, and tie rod ends. The shocks have been replaced with Bilstein performance shocks. The brake calipers are rebuilt with new pads front hoses plus master cylinder. The rear brakes have new shoes, wheel cylinders and hardware. The original 12 bolt posi rear end has new bearings, axle bearings, seals and fluid. A new drive shaft is installed to a rebuilt original 4 speed transmission with new mount. The original 455 cu. in. engine has had an ALL OUT rebuild and upgrades including a billet stainless crankshaft and full girdled lower end with high comp .010” over pistons and “H” beam rods, roller cam and lifters, roller rockers, hardened valve seats, new valves and springs in high comp heads, roller timing chain set and high volume oil pump. This was all Mondello motor works supplied and estimated to be 450 hp. The clutch was replaced with a Superior Racing version including an aluminum flywheel. The A/C has a new evaporator, condenser, compressor (rebuilt), heater core, all hoses and belts. Power steering pump was rebuilt and hoses replaced. Oh yeah, it got a new fuel tank and sender. This project has stalled for years with no end in sight..... time to go
