Oldsmobile 442
I purchased the vehicle in Dallas, October 2003, from original owner. The vehicle was purchased new from Balch Oldsmobile in Little Rock, Arkansas
Vehicle VIN and engine are matching numbers. In 1972, Oldsmobile built 1041 Cutlass convertibles. The 442 package was an option and obviously many of these Cutlass convertibles were not a 442. Unfortunately, there was a fire in Lansing, MI which destroyed vehicle records and it is not possible to determine the accurate number of exact models. (Can be verified by GM)
Many of these vehicles were standard issue with the 350 cu. In. engine as the 455 was an additional option with increased cost. Therefore, it is believed to be a rare survivor of the overall number produced.
This vehicle is equipped with the following:
• 455 engine
• Automatic transmission
• Factory A/C
• Power steering, power front disc brakes
• Power seat (driver's side option only)
• Power windows
• Power convertible top
• Factory 8 track tape player
• AM/FM Stereo radio
• Vehicle VIN and Engine are matching numbers
I have done the following to the vehicle since October 2003:
• Replaced power steering pump
• Replaced front and rear brakes including drums (rear), rotors, and pads, master cylinder
• Removed front and rear bumpers, straightened and re-chromed
• Added Oldsmobile SS wheels
• New Goodrich tires
• Replaced belts and hoses
• Replaced boot for convertible top
• Added chrome alternator, air breather cover, and valve covers for show ( Any original part removed has been kept)
• Power door switches
• Bucket seat latches, door lock plungers, dash bezel
• New chrome trumpets and mufflers
Original owner had stated she did the following:
• Rebuilt engine and transmission. I talked to the engine shop who confirmed and said he set up engine to run unleaded gas when he rebuilt
• Replaced radiator
• Replaced seat covers and carpet
Vehicle also comes with the following:
• Original SS wheels and tires
• 442 Assembly Manual and 1972 Auto repair manual
• Trophies and plaques won at car shows
• Original parts which were kept in the event someone wants to complete restoration as completely original
