Oldsmobile Hurst Olds
The car you see here is a rare 1984 Hurst Olds, a wonderful example of that last year for this special car. One of only 3,500 made, this is #2,856 of that production run. It is a factory modified and specially equipped 1984 Cutlass Calais Owned for 25 years and treated like a baby – covered in a climate controlled garage every night and very rarely driven, this very original '84 Hurst Olds is a great opportunity for someone to own the very special icon from the time when GM ruled the world.
The special, original factory paint scheme looks very good from every angle on this car. The Silver and Black colors are beautifully accented by the thick red stripes and stylish 15 Inch factory original wheels. The “Power bulge“ section on the hood and the rear spoiler are a clear signal that this is not your fathers Oldsmobile. The 2- door hardtop coupe also displays distinctive graphics and lettering. All original and looking perfect. There are a few small imperfections on the paint but you really have to look hard to find them.
The original red cloth interior is unspoiled, shows very little wear and is a perfect compliment to the exterior. The rear bench and the front reclining bucket seats are very comfortable and look to be in excellent condition. The one item that gets people’s attention on viewing the interior is that wild looking arrangement of the 3 shifting levers on the console. This is a very unique Hurst Lightning Rod Shifter. Utilizing 3 shift levers and initially confusing some customers, the 3 lever setup was easier to use than it looked and remains a sought-after feature of these special Oldsmobiles. The 80,142 miles shown on the Odometer are all original. The instrumentation, speedo, radio and various controls and switches are all very clean, work and look great with the red carpet and dash. Original tilt-wheel steering remains. The only thing that may need attention is the headliner.
The Hurst Oldsmobiles are all about style coupled with serious performance. The GM engineers installed a Hi-Output 307 cubic inch (5.0 liters) V8 small block and fitted it with a special camshaft, heavy valve springs, a Rochester 4-barrel carb and aluminum intake manifold. Coupled with the dual exhaust using twin resonators and tailpipes, the car produces 180 Horsepower and 245 pound feet of torque. The engine and drivetrain are all completely original. The engine compartment is clean and well organized. Original Chrome air cleaner, a new battery, Brakes stop the car as they should and shocks and suspension components are all tight and working as they should. This Hurst Olds tracks straight and true, is tight and is a pleasure to drive.
